Yonah- More than a fish tale

At last!!

I've been writing a novel for the past three years and finally completed it in January. As I seek a publisher, I plan to post excerpts here. If you take the time to read it, I am grateful. If you tell a friend, I am real grateful!

Since childhood, Yonah (Hebrew for Jonah) has known God had big plans for him within his Israelite nation. His dreams are confirmed when the great prophet, Elisha, comes to his small village and anoints him as a prophet of the Lord.

Yonah has intense hatred for the surrounding heathen nations that plague Israel—especially the ruthless and idolatrous Assyrians, whose unmatched lust for false gods and cruel warmongering sear his heart. The lone exception to his loathing is Arwa, a young Assyrian girl taken captive by his people and brought to live with his aunt and uncle. Their close friendship helps her draw closer to Yahweh, the One True God, making it ever-clearer to Yonah why the vile Assyrians must be annihilated.
But the life of a prophet is hard, taking Yonah far from his family and tiny village as he comes before kings and mighty generals as warfare in the tumultuous nation intensifies. His heart burns with rage and often crippling depression as he watches his people drift farther away from the Lord, becoming more like their dreaded enemy nations every day.
When God calls him to preach redemption to the Ninevites, Yonah hits his breaking point. His rebellion—and God’s ultimate message of compassion—leads to one of the best-loved stories in the Bible.
